Lawyers Review
So you’ve been offered some work to provide your services as an independent consultant and the business has sent you a draft independent contractors agreement.
It can be a daunting task to review the terms of any agreement, but it is vitally important you do so thoroughly as not understanding your obligations or the risks involved can be devastating to the success of your consulting services.
A consulting agreement is a legally binding document. It is not like employment and will govern the relationship between you and the business you’ll work for.
Seek advice from a lawyer to review the terms of your agreement before you agree to work for the business, and be better informed to sign, negotiate, or know its best to walk away.
We can review any independent contractors agreement for you, and then provide a consultation with you, by phone, online video conference, or in person in Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.
We act for you
We act in your best interests, without regard to the interests of the business looking to engage your, or the lawyers representing them.
Our role is to ensure you understand what you are reading, how it effects you now, and how it might effect you in the future (if things go wrong).
The advice we give on our review of your lease is our honest views on it, and its reasonableness.
We've read many agreements before
Whilst this might be your first time reading an independent contractor agreement, rest assured we have read many before, involving many professions and industries, and written many before too.
It is that knowledge and experience that you are paying for.
It's easy to read the words, but it is a harder task to understand exactly what they might mean to you.
We'll answer any question
Our role is to ensure you are aware what the agreement says. Our advice will be tailored to ensure you understand the agreement, and if you don't first time, we will continue with you until we find a way to ensuring you do.
Read the independent contractors agreement yourself and come ready to answer all the questions you might have on the lease.
You'll be ready to make an informed decision on agreeing to sign.
So what is the process.
We have a simple online booking portal to step you through the process, so just click the link and make a start.
1. We'll need to gather the essential information needed to identify you and the type of services you provide, and the business you are looking to work for.
2. You will need to upload a copy of the draft independent contractors agreement, and any other relevant documents that you are looking for us to review, and provide you with advice upon.
3. We will undertake a detailed review of the independent contractors agreement, and all of its terms and conditions.
4. We will arrange a consultation with you (together with any other people you want included), normally taking between 30 to 60 minutes (depending on the complexities of the documents) and we'll provide our advice on the terms, and answer all the questions you have.
5. That's it.... it is as simple as that! There is no obligation to use our services any further. You can go away and sign the independent contractors agreement as is, negotiate certain terms, or walk away from the deal, it is up to you.
Fixed Fee Legal Service
We offer a fixed fee legal service, that is applicable to most independent contractors agreements. Our fixed fee covers everything needed to provide our legal advice to you, including the collection of instructions, documents, our review of the document itself, and our consultation with you. That consultation can be in person, by phone or online video conference.
A fixed fee, inclusive of G.S.T for reviewing the independent contractors agreement documentation, providing the necessary legal advice to you on the terms and conditions, in consultation with you.
